At Sierra Saddlery School you will learn every facet of saddlemaking necessary to become a fine craftsman and if you desire, establish your own business. Quality education and workmanship eliminates frustration, mistakes and dollars wasted on time and costly materials. An appropriate learning environment is important. At our Saddle School our classes are small, with intensive individual instruction, incorporating lecture, discussion, demonstration, application and review. Since 1977 students have learned this art that is a part of the history of our country and the legend of the old west. We take pride in our graduates and their success reflects on Sierra Saddlery School.
Only the highest quality saddle trees and premium grade skirting, latigo leather, and hardware are used at Sierra Saddlery School. We provide all the leather, machinery and tools for the duration of the class. Students may bring their own tools if desired.
Instruction is taught by professional saddlemaker and horseman, Victor Hermanson. Having learned the trade under the tutelage of one of our country’s esteemed old masters, he has continually pursued perfection and knowledge from the most respected of his peers.
Originally from a ranching family in Darby Montana, he brings a lifetime of experience and practical knowledge to the saddlemaking art. Being an avid outdoors-man and horseman, he understands the ends and outs of how a well built saddle should function. With his years of experience and skill, he turns a saddle into a fine work of art. Victor has been building saddles and teaching the art of saddle making for nearly thirty years.
